After we visited the Suleja, Afara and Sapele Correctional facilities in Nigeria, and from the reports we gathered from other facilities across the Country, it became expedient to organize a campaign against the admission of minors into adult Correctional Centers to cohabit with hardened criminals.

Our research also revealed that there are only three (3) Borstal Institutions in Nigeria. This is because scant attention has been paid to juvenile justice reform in the past and that necessitated our ‘Borstal 36 Movement’ to advocate for the building of one Borstal Institution in all the 36 states in Nigeria.
